This talk discusses precolonial Africa, colonialism, and post/neo-colonialism within the Marvel Cinematic Universe [MCU]. In our world that continues to render early Black death unproblematic (Sharpe, 2016), the undercurrents of the Wakanda-verse become even more important in a comically textually white world.
An experimental work-in-progress paper, it positions screen representations of Wakanda within these debates in Britain and America – and it hopes to educate, but more importantly get viewers to think. It’s more about its questions, than answers.’
